Logitech MX Anywhere 3 Test: Professional Bluetooth Mouse

With the MX Anywhere 3, Logitech has a new USB and Bluetooth mouse for users with professional demands. It works on different surfaces, comes with the precise MagSpeed scroll wheel and wants to convince with a long runtime. We took a closer look at the mouse in the test.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3 Design: Small and ergonomic

The popular Master Series from Logitech has been around for ten years. With its ergonomic design, the MX Anywhere 3 fits into the PC accessory range for professionals. Although I have big hands, I found the mouse to be comfortable to use. The ribbed silicone gripping surfaces on the sides also contribute to this. However: It is a small mouse for on the go, for permanent desktop use larger mice are more suitable for most users.

The scroll wheel is made of steel, the underside is made of aluminum. Some users will be pleased that the mouse is also available in pink. It is also available in light gray and graphite.

The MX Anywhere 3 stands out from the crowd with its high-quality workmanship and ergonomic design.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3 Technology: Precise auto scroll wheel

The mouse has six buttons: left and right click, back and forth, wheel mode change and middle click on the scroll wheel. Horizontal scrolling through tables and the timeline in video editing software, for example, is done by pressing the side button while scrolling.

Tracking works on various surfaces, including glass. Logitech envisions its use in various areas at home, such as the kitchen, on the sofa and in the home office. The mouse can be paired with up to three Bluetooth devices such as tablet, laptop and desktop PC at the same time. To switch between the devices, all you have to do is press the button on the underside of the mouse. That worked well in the test. The mouse can also be connected via a USB dongle, but unfortunately the dongle does not fit into the mouse and has to be transported separately.

The steel MagSpeed scroll wheel is undoubtedly a highlight. It can scroll up to 1,000 lines per second, which can be very handy with long documents and websites. If more precision is required and the user moves his finger more slowly, the mouse automatically switches from rapid freewheel to scrolling line by line. Switching is also possible manually by pressing the mode change key. The mouse wheel also serves as a button, but it cannot be tilted for further input. Clicking the scroll wheel enables advanced users to move objects around in 3D design applications.

The functions of the mouse adapt to the respective app. In Teams and Zoom, the camera can be switched off and the sound muted. There are automatic presets for programs like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and the Chrome browser.

The 4,000 dpi sensor also ensures precise entries. Users can set the sensitivity in 50 dpi steps from 100 to 4,000 dpi. Last but not least, this is good news for designers, for whom every line has to be in the right place. The battery life shouldn’t get in the way of work; according to the manufacturer, the mouse can last up to 70 days on a full charge. One minute of charging via the USB-C port should be enough for three hours. I didn’t have to worry about the runtime during the test period.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3 has good sensor, long runtime and fast scroll wheel: There is nothing wrong with the technology.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3 Software: adapt to your own purposes

The mouse buttons cannot be programmed, but the Logitech software offers many customization options. There are numerous options, especially for the mouse pointer and scroll wheel. “Flow”, for example, allows multiple computers to be controlled with the mouse. When the flow is activated, the user has to move the mouse to the edge of the screen to switch to the next computer.
