Brother MFC-9342CDW Driver Download
For some, smart home also means home office. And so that working at home is also nice and smart, you should definitely get a multifunction printer like the Brother MFC-9342CDW. Because the laser printer can do a lot more than just print, scan, copy and fax from a notebook and PC.
With the free Brother app iPrint & Scan (Android, iOS, Windows Phone 7) you can print documents directly from your smartphone on the Brother MFC-9342CDW . Conversely, you initiate a scanning process via the app and the printer sends the result directly to your smartphone. From there you share the scanned document via one of the many messenger and storage services or send it in the classic way by email – quickly and very conveniently.
The annoying detour via the PC or notebook, then manual copying to a network drive or storage service and only then to the smartphone or tablet is no longer necessary. We took a closer look at precisely these smart functions and the network installation in a practical test.
Since most users in a Smart Office or Smart Home mainly use WLAN for networking, we wirelessly integrated the Brother MFC-9342CDW into our network for the test. We recommend the extremely simple integration via Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). Virtually all modern WLAN routers support this function.
To integrate the Brother MFC-9342CDW into the WLAN of your Smart Office, it is best to use the WPS / AOSS function. Alternatively, you can use the setup wizard.

To do this, first activate “WLAN active” in the menu path “Settings – Network – WLAN” on the printer’s touch display, then select the “WPS / AOSS” function and then press the WPS button on your WLAN router – done. With this technology, WiFi printers and WiFi routers automatically exchange the access data and establish the connection. This saves you having to manually enter the WLAN name (SSID), the network key and other data. You can then reach the MFC-9342CDW both indirectly via your network and directly via Apple AirPrint and WiFi Direct.
Those who prefer to manually integrate the MFC-9342CDW into the WLAN can also do this on the printer. To do this, start the setup wizard under “Settings – Network – WLAN”, select the correct network for you from the WLAN SSIDs shown and enter the network access data via the touch display. If everything went well, the Brother printer is visible to all PCs, notebooks and mobile devices in the network.
On the PC or notebook you can use the Control Center 4 to access many of the main functions of the Brother MFC-9342CDW such as scanning, copying or faxing in just a few clicks.
However, if the WLAN of your Smart Office does not extend to the location where the printer is installed, you can integrate it into the network in the classic way using a LAN cable. To do this, connect the printer and network socket or switch or router with the network cable supplied.
Then install the Brother MFL-Pro Suite from the CD supplied. The software package guides you through the LAN installation process, well explained, step by step. However, this is only part of the MFL-Pro Suite. Because even after the network installation via WLAN, you have to install the suite. It contains the printer / scanner drivers, printer control center Control Center 4, Nuance PaperPort 12 scanning software, PC fax software and other useful tools. Since the drivers and the Control Center 4 offer an enormous number of setting options, it will take a while until you have completely set up the Brother MFC-9342CDW according to your needs. But if you just want to quickly print, scan or copy a few pages, you can start right away.
